This year we are once again doing the out-of-town thing: Driving from Houston to San Angelo to spend the holiday weekend with Dawn’s parents.
So most likely there will not be any updates on the blog until we get back. (not like it’s updated daily anyways).

National Treasure

We went and caught the movie National Treasure tonight. Good & Enjoyable flick.
Throw reality from the window with a canonball attached to it though. (200+ year old torches, lanterns, and chandeliers instantly working and lasting).

It’s an enjoyable movie though. Kind of a combo of Indiana Jones, the DaVinci Code & Oceans 11.

I give it a thumbs up.

Hi y’all…

Hi family, friends, and the occasional passer-by.

Just to let you know that this really is our family website, even though it may seem to lack any of the “family” appeal at the moment. All is fine and well in Houston. We are getting ready for the holiday season to hit once again.

As someone who works in The Church, I’ll inform you that the 24 weeks of Pentecost have come to a close, this Sunday is Christ the King Sunday, and then… ta-daa… Advent and the beginning of “holiday” season. We don’t dare say “Christmas” yet because that doesn’t really happen until December 25. Right now we are prepping for the big wind-up that doesn’t climax until Christmas morning. As you can tell, I do not work for a church that believes in casual Christmas carols before Christmas has yet to arrive. Advent carols… yes. Christmas carols… no. No need to sing about how great the birth of Christ is when it hasn’t happened yet, but we can sing about how great it is GOING to be. (Advent carol – “Oh come, Oh come Emmanuel”; Christmas carol – “O come, all ye faithful… O come let us adore him” (because he’s already born.)) Now you know the difference.

Sorry, I went off on a liturgical tangent. I may not believe it all, but I do understand it.

Anyhow, I just wanted to let you all know that this really is the old Uebelhart website up and going again. Brian, and his infinitely large brain, has just turned it into Blog Central. It is more like an online diary where he can write about whatever is on his mind. Sometime it is actually interesting so you may as well tune in every now and then. Sometime it’s not or may be somewhat controversial and you won’t like what he has to say… just ignore those days. Sometime I’ll actually write something and remind you that this really is a place where we are supposed to be showing you what is going on in our lives, both personal, professional, and otherwise. (Note the fabulous Halloween photo farther down the blog).

Oh, by the way, BLOG is simply short for “WEB LOG”… get it? It is on-line journaling that is taking over the internet.

OK, well, that’s it for now. I’ll try to keep you up on what’s new since I don’t think Brian always will. I’ll also try to make sure that we have some pictures actually showing you what’s going on around here. I hope all are well. Feel free to email anytime to say “hi”. I’m at dawn@uebelhart.net (as stated somewhere else on this website… just don’t know where.) Love to all!.

Radio Dies Yet Again

Radio has really sucked the last 10 years or so. Mega giants like Clear Channel have been buying up the stations and making them exact copies of each other.

We HAD a great station in Houston called 101 (KLOL) that was an “Album Rock” station. About 5 years ago they started to slide though, thansk to the CC folks, but they were still one of the only places in Houston to listen to Pink Floyd, Rush, and Kid Rock without changing the dial.

Well today they died and went Latino.

Latino? Yep. Seems there is more need for ANOTHER latin music station than there is for Rock.

Cue: “American Pie” (and not the Madonna version)

“….. the day the music died ….”

Web Update

Well the Texas Hold Em spammer is back trying again, but the comments are being caught for moderation. We’ll see how it goes.

I’ll be changing the right side picture again soon. I’ll be adding in an image of a filmstrip with panels of differant images. Hopefully it’ll be up by this weekend.

edit 11/10: It’s done. Since it’s actually a BG image, I can’t make them clickable (unless I really go at it to learn CSS positioning and coding)

Gmail

I have quite a few Gmail invites sitting around (about 12), so if anyone does not have Gmail yet and wants an invite, let me know. Either post a comment here or drop me a note to Steelsun (at) gmail.com.

Make sure you include a full name and email address so it can be sent.

I’ve been using Gmail to replace my other catch all or free emails (yahoo, etc) and love it. I actually have 2, one (steelsun) for personal and camera stuff, and one for work. I also use the work one as my mailing list address for my PI work (where I get about 50-100 emails a day about PI referrals, help, etc).
