Howdy!

Well, I just wrote a great blog… and then erased the entire thing. Ack!

Anyhow, we’ve been in San Angelo for 2 days and have had a good Christmas thus far. Food and family have been good! Let’s hear it for the Christmas lasagna!

Oh, that makes me think… I have SO MANY friends I need to thank for the great gifts and such!!! From food, to cash, to gift certificates, to ornaments, to clothes, to really cool vodka glasses, and more… and that’s just my list. Oh yeah… Brian got a camera, and don’t forget a new razor.

We’ll head for Albuquerque early in the morning… way early… trying to get there before dark for once. We don’t take the quickest route because we want some scenery but we pay for it normally by pulling in just in time for bed. Hopefully not tomorrow. The weather should be good (yuck! I wanted snow!) so the drive should be fairly uneventful.

We’ll be back in San Angelo for the New Year spending it with the “old folks” but that also means lots of homemade eggrolls and daquiris! Not too bad! The back to Houston probably Sunday, just in time for Monday’s work.

Well, I hope everyone had a great holiday and will have a happy New Year! May it be a year of peace, good will, and good health to you and yours.

Keep in touch!
Dawn

to be swamped!

Argghh

the end of the year workload (”clear up all your cases by xmas!”) for both Dawn & I, Xmas shopping (although that’s been streamlined this year), endless xmas parties, etc. Not enough time to relax.

Well I am skipping a party tonight & thursday night (although Dawn is still going) and will kick back and chill a bit.

News

The camera: is going great. We both love it. I will get around to posting some images sooner or later (see more below). So far we only have 2 lenses for it, the 18-55 kit lens and a used 50mm f/1.8 I picked up from a local photog. The 50mm (due to it’s fast f/1.8) is better for low light, thus we’ve been using it for the xmas parties, an xmas candlelight concert, xmas lights, etc.

Gifts: We made many of the gifts to friends this year ourselves: 8×10 photos we’ve taken in the last 12 months, framed and delivered. Most have come out pretty good.

Trips: We are leaving xmas day for San Angelo, TX (about a 6-7 hr drive) to visit Dawn’s parents for a few days. Then we’ll depart for Albuquerque, NM (about a 10-12hr drive) to visit my Mom, Brother, & Niece and Nephew for about 2 days, then drive back to San Angelo for a few more days, than back to Houston on the 1st or 2nd.

Web: I’ll be working on the backend of this site some more (I promise) over the holidays. I just transferred over to a new plan on 1and1.com where I’ll be getting alot more space/bandwidth/perks, so I’ll be able to have photo albums back up here and away from zoto or other online services. I’ll also be working on sunstockphoto.com to get that better organized.

Well, we finally got a new camera that I have been wanting: the Canon EOS 20D (review here).

We actually ordered it last week (thursday) at a grand opening Circuit City had near our house. Got a very good discount on the kit (way below the $1599 going price), and had it shipped to us (They don’t stock it at the local stores). It arrived today at my office. We were able to afford it due to the incredible deal we got, a no-interest deal CC is having, and a check from Marriot due to arrive any day in recompense for the trouble they put us through for our luggage problems in October in Wash DC.

I’ve charged it up and played with it, but have not taken any pics yet (promised Dawn she could take the first shots - she will get home tonight around 9:30PM - so I still have 5 1/2 hours of torture avoiding the trigger!).

We’ll post some pics as soon as we can.

Now I am working a deal with a client to get Chris one also, since he really wants one too, and was the one responsible for turning me on to this model. We should know by tomorrow if we can do this for him.

Well, I have someone trying to spam my site again, all day today (about a dozen total). This one’s a pirate/offshore drug company, and they are too stupid to realize any post with multiple links usually gets hidden from view and awaiting moderation.

I think I’ll add a new bit of code soon, like the one seen here: http://www.syndic8.com/~jeff/blog/index.php?p=103 , It’s a bit of verification if you want your comment to be processed. I’ll make it simple, like “2 + 3=?”
