Today’s weather was perfect for a zoo trip: mid 50’s and clear. So Dawn & I met up with Chris & Lynda (with Ben & Nick) and ran around the zoo for about 5 hours. It was nice. Since the weather was so nice, many of the animals were out and active, something you rarely see in the heat of the summer.
Chris & I had fun playing with our cameras, and Chris even let me use the 75-300IS lens he had borrowed from J for most of the day. (Gotta say I like it!). Over all I took 1.1 GB worth of pictures. That’s right, almost 2 CDs worth.
I’m too tired today to sort them out and get them prepped for upload, so I’ll start that tomorrow at work (where I am sure it will be a slow day).
Dawn also took tons of photos with the Olympus C4000 (about 2 memory cards worth), and some of the compositions she showed me were amazing. We’ll get those arranged and uploaded too.
Our experience has just about convinced us to buy a Zoo support membership. Basically it’s a 12 month pass for the zoo. I think we’ll end up doing it.

Hey there, I ran into yall at the zoo in the childrens area, the guy with the 20d you let use the is lense. Great to see you here, have a good day
Hiya Steve!
It was nice to meet you. It was pretty cool that we ran into so many people there shooting 20Ds (and a few 10Ds).
The other guy that was with us (the guy you talked to more wearing the kilt) has a webaite also: http://www.saturos.net/
Also there’s a cool local site for Houston and Texas photographers over at http://www.texasphotoforum.com (I’m Steelsun on that board).
Oh dear you gave that poor guy my page URL… and he seemed such a nice man too. Now he might be scarred for life.
Though I’m glad he clarified which person with the 20D he was. I think we ran into at least 10 people with 20Ds throughout the day. I guess we got a very popular camera though it makes me feel like just one of the pack. Maybe I should have gotten a Nikon…. Nah.
I’m a member of that forum, haven’t posted yet. Satyr, your website didn’t scare me off, its kinda kool.Hope yall have plans for shooting this weekend. I have to go to Clute, but may try to find some suitable subjects to photograph.Take care
Steve
