Doctor Update

Well, I went back to the doctor’s yesterday for the results of all the tests and the physical they did.

Lungs/Sickness: After reviewing the xrays, rechecking my lungs and sinus, and reviewing the bloodwork, they concluded I had (and still do to some degree) Bronchitis. If I had waited a little longer to get treated it probably would have developed into pneumonia. Yuk. He’s happy with the treatment and put me on some continuing antibiotics and mucus looseners for about 2 more weeks to get rid of the residuals.

Heart: The results on this were good. I do have an erratic heart rythm, but it’s of no danger at this time. He want’s te review it again in about 6 months to get a comparison. Basically on the 24 hour monitor I had 1 spvd (? don’t know if I got the abbrev right), which he said was not a source of concern. My average pulse for the period was 85, which is on the high end of normal.

Bloodwork: My white cells were of course super high due to the bronchitis. What concerned him a bit of course was my choleserol and it’s related lipids. My chol was about 10% too high, triglycerides way too high (215, high is >150), LDL (bad chol) about 15% high, and HDL (good chol) about 20% low. All my other blood work levels (thyroid, glucose, CBC, etc) was normal except protein was a little high (8.6 over base of 6.0-8.3). I am also non-diabetic (whew).

What this all means is I have to start watching my diet to get my cholesterol and related gunk in control. There goes nice juicy burgers and dripping steaks.
