Well I finally went out and bought an L Lens (Canon EOS 100-400mm L), and it cost more than my camera did. Wow.
But it was worth it. It’s alot better optically than any of my other lenses, has Image Stabilization, and the long reach I have wanted for awhile.
On Thursday & Today I got to test it out pretty thoroughly and took alot of bird pictures. Here’s a collage of some of them The Kestrel & Shrike were taken Thursday, handheld, from my car while doing a quick surveillance in NE Houston. The others were taken today at Brazos Bend, some on a monopod and some handheld. All the pics were full size crops from the images (no enlargements) and the collage was 2400 pixels across. This was reduced to 1000 pixels to save webspace (or else it would be a 1.4 MB pic). Only post processing was Raw conversions in Bridge, cropping, and some slight smart sharpening on the Kestrel & Shrike since these were JPG shots originally.

Ooo… congrats on the new lens.
Thanks!
Fantastic shots of the birds. I’m anxious for Butch to see how they turned out.
