Played around with a photo this morning and came up with this:

We started the day at the Bronx Zoo. It also happened to be “donate day” instead of regular admission ($15) day, and the last week before school starts. Bad idea - place was packed with all manners of people and it was like shopping at a mall the day before xmas.

After that we went to the Belmont area of the Bronx, the “Real Little Italy.” We ate at a little family restaurant known as the Arthur Ave Cafe, where Bobby Flay once had a “Throwdown” with the chef (the owners son) and Bobby lost. It was for Egg Plant Parmigiana (which Dawn ordered and was delicious, I had Chicken Parm). We were also regaled with stories and history from the 74 year old lady that owns the place. Here’s a pic of Dawn there:

On this date we used a borrowed vehicle to drive north up the Hudson Valley. We stopped at and walked the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery (the actual one Washington Irving wrote about and is buried in), then the Vanderbilt Mansion.

This is “Stately Wayne Manor”: This mansion in Bronxville, NY was used as the facade for Wayne Manor for the original Batman TV series.
