



We started the day at the Bronx Zoo. It also happened to be “donate day” instead of regular admission ($15) day, and the last week before school starts. Bad idea - place was packed with all manners of people and it was like shopping at a mall the day before xmas.

After that we went to the Belmont area of the Bronx, the “Real Little Italy.” We ate at a little family restaurant known as the Arthur Ave Cafe, where Bobby Flay once had a “Throwdown” with the chef (the owners son) and Bobby lost. It was for Egg Plant Parmigiana (which Dawn ordered and was delicious, I had Chicken Parm). We were also regaled with stories and history from the 74 year old lady that owns the place.
