Been updating my photo biz sites.

I’ve got the initial ones up for Steelsun Photo & Art (which I filed a DBA for), and Shoot Houston (which is a segment of Steelsun Photo & Art).

Steelsun Photo & Art is the main site for hiring me for commercial work. It’ll also host some of the “Fine Art” stuff I’ll be selling. (The beginning of that part being set up is: http://steel-sun.com/fineartgallery/ )
I had a potential client wanting access to a portfolio of some of the work I had done. She’s looking for some of the ‘edgy’ stuff (as in crisp, modern, and with a bite) and not standard pictures, so I put a quick one up here: http://steel-sun.com/portfolio1/.

Shoot Houston is geared more towards companies, executives, offices, etc that want local & Texas themed art to hang on their walls.

I also have a stockphoto site being developed, but that is on the back burner.

I am changing the Project 365 for this year again. I am sick of the crappy quality of iPhone images, so I am basically scrapping that whole project (365 Up/Down)

Instead I will restart with my DSLRs and do a 365 Macro/Texture project:
A picture taken every day for a year (starting 1/10/2010) of either a Macro shot or a Texture shot (or both). No more than 2 consecutive days can have the same image type (i.e. Macro, Macro)

This will be more fun, and useful.

New Gallery/Set of this project is here: http://www.zooomr.com/photos/steelsun/sets/53706/

OK, I’ve already made some changes to my Project 365:
It is now “Project 365 Up/Down”, I’ll alternate days: One day the image is from looking up, the next looking down, etc.

I am posting them in my Zooomr space here: Project 365

OK, in order to stoke more creativity and output for myself, and to push some boundaries, I will be undertaking some photography projects in the new year. So far I have come up with 3, they will be:

1) 2010 in 2010: I will take a total of 2,010 images in 2010 that will be posted to a special album/catalog. (that’s an average of about 39 a week) These will not be shots to take a shot, but ones actually worthy of posting. A year end plan for this project is to make a book of the images, which will actually be fairly easy (I’ll post a link here in early 2011 for anyone that wants to order a copy). I also want to make a collage set of the images (probably a set of 11×14 prints of thumbnails) to hang on the walls.

2) Project 52 Hours: Every week I want to devote a solid hour to a photography event: Either a photowalk, an experimental session, or a class/meeting. I’ll probably end up joining one of the local photography clubs again, which have monthly meetings. I expect alot of the images from these endeavors will end up in the 2010 in 2010 project. Unlike the 2010 in 2010 project though, these hours cannot all be pre-done or doubled up (i.e. I can’t skip a week and do 2 hours in one week). Let’s see how long this will last.

3) Project 365 Up: Alot of people do a Project 365, aka a “Photo-A-Day” project, and I will do one, but it will be a bit different. At first I was thinking of doing a Project 365 Sky, where I took a picture of the sky (or moon or clouds, etc) everyday - but here in Houston we can have a week solid of gray skies and rain, so that would get boring. So I instead changed it to “Up,” which can include the sky but also include other things you see when looking directly up. So this can be interesting. I’m sure many of these will end up in the 2010 in 2010 project. I also expect to take most of these with my iPhone camera instead of my DSLR, and in fact I may decide to do them all this way.

I’ll put them in Zooomr (my account there: Steelsun/ )

Dawn, I, our friend Brett, and a few dozen photographers were at the Houston Museum of Natural Science about a week ago after hours for a private photo shoot. Here are some of the shots I took.
