We fly out back home tomorrow, and are in Salt Lake for the night.  I’ve been sick all day, hopefully a quick bug, don’t look forward to flying with this.  Yuk.

Some quick pics since I finally have good net access.

Camping Update

Well we are here (Lake Somerville) and still alive.  The park is very nice, and most camping spots are occupied.

At the moment it’s 40 degrees out and raining.  It’s supposed to rain all day long and stay cold. Yuk.

So far the holiday has been pretty relaxing.  Yesterday we even went to Somerville Steakhouse and gorged ourselves on food.  Today we’ll attempt to cook fajitas on the grill (most likely in the rain).

Cell reception sucks bad over here, so I can’t upload pics of the day (I’ll have to catch up later).  In fact when we can get a connection, it’s slower than old dialups (Google takes at least 30 seconds to a minute to load, sometime longer).

Last Weekend

Last weekend I was going to go camping in Galveston (actually Bolivar) and meet some fellow photogs for some photo opportunities.

Well, disaster struck Friday night: I was putting up the pop-up tent trailer that Dawn & I bought a few weeks back, and the rear cables broke (or maybe the pullies for them) and the whole rear of the roof collapsed. Luckily a friend was also camping there in his pop-up and I was able to spend the night there. Sat morning I hooked the trailer back up and drove back to the mainland and hit an RV repair place in Texas City. They informed me that they don’t do cable repairs, and the only place they knew that did them was a place up 290 in Waller.

So I took the trailer back home, and by then Dawn was able to go out, so we went back to Galveston for the day and took the dogs. We stayed until after dark with the photogs and I was able to get a few nice pics, of which the lighthouse profile below is one.

I called around this week, and visited a few places to see about repair options. I found a place (actually near BW8 & Gulf Freeway) that does the repairs, the quote was good, but the next appointment date they had open to begin work was the end of this month. Tomorrow I will make the appt and arrange to drive the trailer there for repairs.

Edit: The trailer goes in Oct 29.
